We can’t grow….. THAT!!

I’m sure I have mentioned before, that I am not a gardener….period!!
Not that I don’t like flowers, quite the opposite in fact, I love them…I just can’t grow them.
I’m cursed with a black thumb.
If I plant it, it dies.
So being an award winning gardener is not what destiny has planned for this girl.

That said…one of my most memorable moments is of ‘gardening’.

Anyone who follows me here, probably knows by now that although I live here in the States, I’m originally from England.
Yes! I’m an immigrant.
A very law abiding immigrant, I will point out.
Soooooo…..
Let’s rewind to my first summer in the good ole USA.
Hubby and I were outside enjoying the fresh air and warm temperatures when I noticed something growing in the garden……marijuana!!!

I totally freaked out!  Seriously!!!
Not that I’d ever seen it in person before, but I’d seen it in movies, in photo’s etc.
This was definitely IT, and it had to go….and fast!!!!

I mean, I could get deported for this, right?

Hubby was shocked to say the least.
According to him, it’s grown here and there the whole time he’d lived here.
He didn’t know what it was, but he went along with me and we hunted down every last bit of that stuff and destroyed it.
Phewwww!!!!
When I was sure there wasn’t any of it left, I was so relieved.

Then yesterday….out hunting new blooms to photograph…I saw it.
It was back!
Nooooooooooooooo!!!!

I ran in the house, and immediately consulted my best friend…Mr Google!!
I searched, and searched then suddenly there it was in all it’s glory.
A huge photo of it appeared on the computer screen,
the description
and then,
it’s name……
Sulphur Cinquefoil??

A noxious weed!!
Really?
Just a common old weed??
We had spent hours upon hours hunting this stuff down and all along it was just a weed?
I wasn’t sure if I should laugh or cry!

But in my defense…I’m apparently not the first to make this mistake.
